Hi!
The first of the year is typically about breaking bad habits, instilling good habits, and generally striving to improve your life.
Congratulations on the progress you’ve made so far! And hang in there if you haven’t…you’ll get there!
One habit you can work on this year is to encourage your customers and clients to automatically think of you when they have a question your product or service solves.
You know how habits are those things you can’t seem to NOT do.
When I lived in Atlanta, I spent a lot of time on the phone with my good friend and neighbor. Since she and I were both exceptionally chatty…ahem…I knew I’d be talking for quite a while.
Instead of just sitting on the couch gabbing, I began to unload my dishwasher every time I was on the phone with her.
After a while, every single time the phone would ring with her on the other end, I’d find myself automatically emptying the dishwasher without being able to recollect when exactly I’d begun!
It was a habit.
A solid synapse-trail of irresistible action. I couldn’t NOT empty the dishwasher when she called.
To this day, even in my new home, I can’t NOT head for the kitchen when she calls. We laugh, but it’s a great thing.
There are two ways you can instill an automatic response like this in your customers.
You can build a vibrant community where your perfect audience comes to interact and feel like family. Once your peeps find your pod, they will habitually visit to avoid missing any of the fun and camaraderie.
The other way to be a habit with your customers is to produce outstanding content. The kind of content that answers all their burning questions and keeps them up to date on all of the solutions to the problems they face.
Keeping your website and social media content fresh and useful will make a measurable difference in your bottom line. So will providing in-depth content above and beyond what your competitors offer.
Because when your customers can’t NOT turn to your content for answers, you know you’re a habit.
A good habit to nurture.
May all your habits be good ones,
Beverly
